Terms of Use
1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of the TBS Field Guide iOS application (“App”). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Non-affiliation
TBS Field Guide is an independent, privately developed educational app. It is NOT an official product of, and is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to:
- The United States Marine Corps (USMC)
- The Basic School (TBS) or Marine Corps Base Quantico
- The Department of the Navy
- The Department of Defense (DoD)
- The U.S. Government or any military service, command, or schoolhouse
Names such as “Marine Corps,” “The Basic School,” “TBS,” “Quantico,” and related marks may appear only for factual educational identification of a publicly known course and location. No official seal, emblem, or insignia is used to imply endorsement.
3. Educational purpose only
This app provides general educational information, study aids, and printable practice templates for newly commissioned or appointed Marine officers and related adult learners. Content is compiled from publicly available sources and the developer’s educational research. It may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong for your company or fiscal year.
4. Not an official substitute
This app is NOT a substitute for:
- Official orders, directives, MARADMINs, or doctrine
- Your company welcome-aboard packet, SOPs, or liberty policy
- Instruction or guidance from TBS staff, your SPC, or your chain of command
- Official NAVMC / USMC forms
If anything in this app conflicts with staff guidance or your packet, follow staff guidance and your packet.
5. No professional advice
The App is not legal, medical, safety, or career counseling advice. Training and operational decisions are yours and your chain of command’s responsibility.
6. User conduct
- Do not use the app to cheat on graded evaluations or violate integrity rules (including land navigation)
- Do not enter classified, FOUO, CUI, or other restricted information into form drafts or notes
- Do not represent the app or its templates as official USMC products
- Comply with all applicable laws and lawful military orders
7. Intellectual property
The App’s original compilation, writing, design, and software are owned by the developer or its licensors. Public U.S. government works and third-party materials remain subject to their own terms; citations are provided for education and attribution. You may not scrape, resell, or republish the App’s content as an official USMC product.
8. Privacy
No account required. No ads. No analytics SDK in this build. The app does not operate a developer backend that collects your content. Checklists, bookmarks, trackers, and form drafts are stored on your device. If you use Share or Print, Apple and your chosen destination handle that transfer. Full Privacy Policy is available in the app and at the public Privacy Policy URL listed on the App Store product page.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. The developer does not warrant that use of the app will improve academic, leadership, or military-skills outcomes, or that any template will be accepted by your unit.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of career opportunity, grades, status, or data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. Your sole remedy is to stop using the app and, if applicable, seek a refund through Apple’s App Store processes.
11. Apple’s role
These Terms are between you and the developer, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. For paid apps, Apple’s standard refund and Media Services terms may apply to billing disputes.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material updates should be reflected by the “Last updated” date.
