Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Folio (“we”, “us”), a product of Emmber, Inc., provides personal budgeting tools. This policy describes how we collect and use information when you use the Folio iOS app and related APIs.
Information we collect.
- Account data: name, email, and password (stored hashed).
- Financial data you link: account balances, transactions, merchant names, and categories via Plaid.
- App activity: budgets you create, category corrections, and suggestion feedback used to improve Folio.
- Purchases: subscription status synced from Apple (StoreKit) so we can unlock Folio Plus features. Apple processes payment; we do not store full card numbers.
- Technical data: IP address for rate limiting and security; tokens stored on-device in the iOS Keychain.
How we use it. To create your account, sync linked accounts, categorize spending, power category budgets and alerts, manage Folio Plus entitlements, and keep the service secure and reliable. We do not use your financial data for advertising.
Processors. We use Plaid to connect banks, Apple for In-App Purchases, and Cloudflare to host the API and database. These providers process data under contract to deliver Folio. We do not sell personal information.
Retention & deletion. You may disconnect banks or delete your Folio account in Settings at any time. Account deletion removes your profile, linked items, budgets, alerts, suggestion feedback, conversations, and synced transactions from our systems, subject to limited legal or security retention (e.g. short-lived rate-limit logs). Cancel Apple subscriptions separately in Apple ID settings.
Children. Folio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Your choices. Contact us to request access or correction. California residents may contact us for requests related to the CCPA/CPRA.
